Welcome Vicar Mertz!

At our Voter’s Meeting on July 30, 2023, a motion was passed to adopt and Interim/SPECIFIC MINISTRY PASTOR (SMP). Vicar Glenn Mertz is now our SMP with Pastor Robert Weldon assuming the official acts of the church.

Vicar Mertz is on track to be ordained in the Fall of 2024. Pastor Weldon has assumed the official acts for the church; weddings, funeral, baptisms and communion. Pastor Weldon will consecrate the elements so Vicar Mertz can give communion. Vicar Mertz will now be preaching at Grace every Sunday and will help Grace develop a plan for our future.

Vicar Mertz serves as chaplain at Lorain Correctional in Grafton and will remain in that position, We welcome Vicar Mertz and his wife, Jackie.

Do you need to speak to a pastor? Contact Pastor Weldon on his cell phone (270) 792-0570 or at his office (440) 322-5497.

WELCOME TO GRACE – at least to the Grace website!  We are glad to have you.  Grace is an LCMS Lutheran congregation located in Oberlin, Ohio – a small college town near Cleveland.  We are a small congregation, made up of people of all ages with faith in Christ who are united by the Gospel of Christ Jesus.

For those of you who are new to Grace, take some time to look around the website and learn more.  If you have any more questions, please call 440-775-3271 or email evanglc22@gmail.com.

Adult Bible Class:

Adult Bible Class is offered weekly Sunday morning at 11:15 am and Wednesdays at 1:30 pm & 7 pm.

Worship Services:

Divine Worship is offered every Sunday morning at 10:00 am. Worship at Grace is truly DIVINE because in worship God shows up – in His Word and Sacrament.  He serves and feeds us.

What to expect:

We use the liturgical settings found in the new maroon Lutheran Service Book (LSB) hymnal.  The liturgy brings with it a familiar order and rhythm to the service week after week.  You can expect to sing Christian hymns accompanied by our beautiful Bedient pipe organ.  You can expect to hear a sermon that preaches God’s Word and applies to your life.

There is a Children’s Church is offered every Sunday during worship specifically geared toward the young.  Following the Sermon Hymn, children are excused from the service to take part in Children’s Church.  A Nursery Room with PLENTY of toys is also available during the service for the parents (or grandparents) of young children.  Kids are certainly welcome to stay in worship – to sing and learn to worship God; (also because some of our older members secretly love to hear the squirms and squeaks of God’s littlest loved ones).
