Lutheran Women’s League
The Lutheran Women’s League is a long-standing part of Grace Lutheran Church. It’s operated for over a generation as a way for the ladies of Grace to get involved in beneficial projects of missions and helping others. One of their big events every year is our September Rummage Sale (held the same weekend as the Oberlin city-wide rummage sales). All the money raised is directed by the group to various missionary projects such as hurricane relief, missionary support, and campus ministry. The LWL also helps coordinate the winter clothe-a-kid campaign (through Love INC), and the Easter Breakfast.
Evangelism Service Opportunities…
…are all around us! Join us for monthly food distribution at the Oberlin Community Services Center. This past year we’ve handed out snacks and totes at the Free Concerts in the Park in downtown Oberlin and also at the Family Fun Fair in August. We have more things planned for the future… so keep an eye out at the “Upcoming Events” section on the homepage.. or like us on Facebook!
Worship Service Opportunities
We are always in need of willing people to serve as ushers, acolytes, greeters, altar guild members, or coffee hour hostesses. Talk to the Worship Deacon if you might be interested in serving in any of these capacities.
Education Service Opportunities
We are always looking for caring adults of any age with large hearts and large amounts of patience to teach our Children’s Church during worship every Sunday. If you might be willing to give this a try, talk to our Education Deacon.
Buildings & Grounds Service Opportunities
When it comes to this area, there are TONS of ways to volunteer and serve. People are needed to mow grass, trim hedges, shovel snow, plant and weed flowerbeds, clean gutters, sweep floors, change lightbulbs in the sanctuary …you name it! Talk to the Buildings and Grounds Deacon for more details or for coordinating schedules.
Fellowship Opportunities
Periodically we try and schedule activities at Grace that draw us closer as Christ’s family by giving us time to build relationships and care for one another. There is a Women’s Breakfast held the fourth Thursday of every month at a local restaurant. In July we have our annual Church Picnic at church – complete with a potluck, games for all ages, and ice cream. On Christmas Eve we have a small Christmas party between the worship services.
